Ahead of the start of the upcoming Champions Hockey League season, we asked the Head Coaches of Tappara Tampere's six Regular Season opponents what their thoughts are on the Finnish team - here's what they had to say!
Bílí Tygři Liberec Head Coach Jiří Kudrna: “They are a highly competitive Finnish team with consistent performances. They proved this not only in their domestic league but also through their regular appearances in the CHL. Finnish hockey is defined by great skating and high intensity; for us, this will be a fantastic challenge that we are truly looking forward to.”
Kölner Haie Head Coach Thomas Berglund: “Tappara are one of the most successful and prestigious clubs in Europe. They have dominated the Finnish league for many years and are known for their strong winning mentality and high-calibre players across all positions. We know just how competitive the level of play is in Finland and what challenges await us there. It will also be a special game for us, as we’ll face Kari Jalonen, who was the Haie’s head coach for the past few seasons."
Storhamar Hamar Head Coach Petter Thoresen: “Another team we have met in the past in the CHL. One of the best teams in the competition and another tough test for us!”
Växjö Lakers Head Coach Björn Hellkvist: “Tappara are one of the most well-organised teams in Europe. They are disciplined, tactically strong and give you very little for free. We need to be patient, make good decisions with the puck and be prepared to put in the work shift after shift.”
Rögle Ängelholm Head Coach Dan Tangnes: “Tappara are a club that have been among Europe’s elite for many years. Rögle have faced them before in important games and I’ve also played against them with Zug. As always, I expect a demanding game against a top-class opponent.”
GKS Tychy Head Coach Pekka Tirkkonen: “Tappara have a new, experienced coach. They are sure to be a very disciplined team tactically.”
