Heading into Game Day 6 of the 2026/27 season, it's quite possible that no match-up has more on the line than when HC Davos host Bílí Tygři Liberec in Switzerland, as these two close rivals in the race to qualify for the Playoffs can take points off each other to boost their chances of staying in the Top 16!
- Neither team have clinched Playoffs place
- Davos have CHL's best PP and highest hits per game
- Liberec have CHL's 3rd-best faceoff percentage
Despite heading into the game above of the cut-off line ahead of Tuesday's Game Day 6 openers, neither team have secured a spot in the knockout stages yet. Davos have one more point than Liberec and what exactly each team need to advance will be clearer once the GD6 action concludes, with multiple other results and scenarios affecting each team's chances of making the Playoffs.
Liberec have seven points following last week’s big 3-2 overtime win over Frölunda Gothenburg. They have the CHL’s third-best face-off percentage at 57.45%. Linemates Radan Lenc and Filip Sandberg are the team’s top two scorers so far with five points each – Lenc has five goals and Sandberg four assists.
The Czechs started the season with back-to-back losses on the road, but are now on a three-game winning streak having slain two national champion and the reigning CHL Champs at home. Their poor away form is a big question mark and one that definitely play into Davos's favour!
“Teams from the Czech Extraliga are tough. They play a heavy, hard game. This team will be a great test to see how hard we can compete.”Josh Holden, HC Davos Head Coach
Five games in, Davos sit on eight points, entering the final round of the Regular Season after being unable to secure a Playoff spot last week when they fell 3-2 to Rögle Ängelholm.
They have the CHL’s best powerplay at 33.33% and the most hits per game at 8.80, led by Sven Jung’s nine. Filip Zadina is tied fourth in CHL scoring with eight points (4G,4A) - the most scored by a non-Kölner Haie player!
Davos started the season with back-to-back wins in the colourful VAT Arena high in the Swiss Alps - the venue of this Game Day 6 clash - and took their third win of the season againt GKS Tychy on the road to complete a hattrick of national champions beaten.
Since then, they've recorded back-to-back losses in the CHL, but have scored at least two in both of these games. Despite an epic PP unit, their PK has been a bit weaker this season so tightening things up there will be a must if they are to slip through to the Playoffs.
“A highly traditional and quality Swiss club with vast experience competing across hockey-rich Europe. This game will be played on their home ice, which I am actually very happy about because Davos is a beautiful Alpine town and the host of the famous Spengler Cup. I believe there will be a thrilling atmosphere. For our team, this will be another highly motivating game.”Jiří Kudrna, Bílí Tygři Liberec Head Coach
Make time for this epic Game Day 6 clash - one of the very last games played in the Regular Season - that will play a crucial role in mixing things up in the Regular Season Standings one last time!
