- Both teams enter on the back of victories
Polish champions GKS Tychy finish the 2025/26 Champions Hockey League Regular Season at home against Finnish contenders Lukko Rauma, aiming for a Playoffs push late into the regular season. Tychy stunned KAC Klagenfurt 4-1 on the road, powered by two goals from Mark Viitanen and an outstanding 35-save effort from Tomáš Fučík.
The victory came after several encouraging but narrow defeats, including a 3-2 loss to Luleå Hockey and a strong showing against Frölunda Gothenburg, proving the Poles have grown into the tournament with each outing.
Lukko, meanwhile, make the trip to Poland already guaranteed a place in the Playoffs after collecting 10 points from five games. The Finnish side have looked composed and consistent throughout the Regular Season, earning victories over Lausanne HC, Eisbären Berlin, and EV Zug.
Their only setbacks came in a narrow 3-4 defeat to HC Bolzano and a 2-3 shootout loss in Bremerhaven. Antti Raanta’s shutout performance against Zug underlined Lukko’s defensive stability, while Alex Beaucage has continued to lead the charge offensively with timely goals and creativity in attack.
Wednesday’s match-up offers contrasting motivations: Lukko will want to maintain momentum and an upward trend in the Regular Season heading into the Round of 16, while Tychy will look to give their fans even more to celebrate as they hunt for a place in knockout rounds.
