- Kölner Haie back in CHL for first time since 2014/15 season
- Red Bull Salzburg will start their 11th CHL season
- Salzburg made CHL Semi-Finals in 2018/19
This one is all about the Kölner Haie return! The German side will grace the Champions Hockey League ice for the first time in over a decade come game time and there is no better opponent to take them for a spin on Game Day 1 than Austria's Red Bull Salzburg - one of the most consistent clubs in Europe and a veteran of our competition.
Salzburg are entering their 11th CHL season having made it as far as the Semi-Finals in 2018/19. Salzburg are looking to establish an early home-ice dominance by using their extensive CHL experience to control the game in front of their fans, as they hope to send a clear message to the rest of their Regular Season opponents.
Since we last saw die Haie, they've developed as a club. The eight-time German champions may not have won a title in a while, but are hungrier than ever to prove their worth on the European stage and their rightful place among Europe's elite. With their incredible fan base and the city of Cologne firmly behind them, they have all they need to deliver.
Expect a suspenseful tactical battle as both clubs will carefully juggle a strong offence and a solid and reliable defence from the opening face-off to secure their first points.
