HC Pilsen host GKS Tychy in the second Champions Hockey League game of the season for both teams. Both were involved in shutouts on Thursday, with Pilsen topping Rögle Ängelholm 4-0 and Tychy falling 6-0 to Czech champions Dynamo Pardubice. Playing at home, Pilsen will try to continue those trends, while Tychy will try to salvage something from their Czech road trip.

Thursday’s game was Tychy’s first-ever CHL game against a Czech opponent, while this game will be the first time Pilsen have faced a Polish side.

In their opener, Pilsen got goals from four different players, with Ondřej Rohlík, Michal Teplý and defenceman Carter Robinson contributing two assists each. Nick Malík made 15 saves for the shutout. Pilsen went 1-for-5 on the powerplay and killed off all three of their penalties.

Tychy were overwhelmed by the stacked Pardubice roster on Thursday, so they will try to make some adjustments in this one. In particular, they’ll try to stay out of the penalty box, as they surrendered three powerplay goals.

Tomáš Fučík, the team’s Czech-born goalie who now plays for the Polish national team, did all he could, making 47 saves. Tychy will also look for leadership from defenceman Lukáš Kovář, a veteran of the Czech Extraliga. Alan Łyszczarczyk led Tychy’s offence with three shots on goal and will look to finally break through in this one.
