- The Danes manufactured their first regulation win of the season
- Scoring continues to be an issue for Salzburg
- Odense sit one point outside of a Playoff place
The Odense Bulldogs registered their second win of the season and first in regulation as they rode the excellent netminding of Niklas Lundström, who fought off 22 of 23 shots, to a 2-1 victory over Red Bull Salzburg. The visitors' scoring woes continued as they only managed to convert once, despite outshooting the Danes 23-17.
Odense caught their competitors off guard and set the tone early with a tuck 26 seconds into the contest. Mason Klee was the recipient of an errant puck that fizzled past a teammate's stick before reaching his, as he rocketed it past the pads of Atte Tolvanen to draw first blood.
The hosts would eventually answer back on the powerplay, when Lucas Thaler found the trailer in Connor Corcoran, who hammered a one-timer for his first marker of the tournament. The play developed when Thaler received a pass at the blueline before skating it in, surveying the ice and dishing it back to the defenceman who wasted no time in wiring it far side past Lundström.
Jeppe Jul Korsgaard helped regain the lead for his team when he finished off a feed from Kevin Karlsson in close. Karlsson pursued the puck in the neutral zone before gaining some space inside the offensive end where he floated a pass to Korsgaard, who helped himself to his second of the campaign.
Still searching for the equaliser in the third, Salzburg didn't do themselves any favours as they committed multiple infractions in the closing minutes. This and their lack of scoring resulted in the Austrians' third loss of the campaign as Odense went on to earn their second win and give themselves some life in the Standings.
