What a game between these two eager Champions Hockey League sdes! Adler Mannheim and Fribourg-Gottéron battled each other hard, but the Germans were finally able to gain the lead in the third, and their fourth goal proved to be the difference-maker as they held on to defeat Fribourg 4-3.

Exactly two minutes into the tilt, a wrister from Jan Dorthe broke the deadlock to give the Swiss the early advantage. Dorthe received the puck through the neutral zone, came down the far side and hoisted it over the glove of Maximilian Franzreb to make it 1-0.

Then Mannheim evened things when a rebound popped free just under four minutes later. Ludovic Waeber padded away the initial save, but the puck popped up, allowing Nicolas Mattinen to get his stick on it and bat it into the back of the cage. 

The hosts tucked one more home before the buzzer when Jacob de la Rose redirected one home on the powerplay. Marcus Sörensen slid it towards the net where de la Rose got his stick on it as it slid between the pads of the netminder to give Fribourg the one-goal edge.

In the second, a battle in front of the net led to Leon Gawanke bunting the puck past Waeber to make it 2-2. The netminder couldn't control the initial shot as it pinballed around in the crease and Gawanke took advantage, finding it and sliding it into the open net.

Two quick goals capped off the middle stanza. Yannick Rathgeb scored with a one-timer on the powerplay to give the Swiss their third lead of the night, but then Mattinen got Mannheim the equaliser when he converted on his chance at 38:10.

The Germans finally took their first lead of the night when Patrick Brown netted his fourth of the season. Brown gained control of the puck in the neutral zone, powered his way down the near side and then backhanded it in to make it 4-3. This would be the final tally as the Swiss were unable to find their fourth of the night as Mannheim went on the record their third win of the 2026/27 campaign.
