- First win of the season for the Finns
Finnish side SaiPa Lappeenranta took their first win of the 2026/27 Champions Hockey League season on the road against Herning Blue Fox, skating away with a 7-2 win thanks to some strong combination play and individual performances under all circumstances.
SaiPa scored in each period of the game, opening the scoring just over 10 minutes into the opening frame with an equal-strength Janne Naukkarinen strike. Mikko Perttu added goal #2 some two minutes later, getting on the end of a very nice team effort in front of the Herning net.
The Finns went 3-0 up in the third period with an inch-perfect PP strike from the circles and added two more goals to their name in the next few minutes. The fith of the game - scored by Nicholas Zabaneh - saw the Finns even score while short-handed!
The Danes scored two before the end of the second period, but two more goals - including another short-handed strike - for the team in yellow in the final 20 minutes of game time made sure all three points were going home with the visitors.
